In brief
RAO built an auxiliary structure for NMT to support the transport of wind turbine blades in Martinique. Part of the structure was assembled onshore, lowered into the sea, and completed in the water. Our team supported the lifting operation and coordinated activities with the other crews involved. Once the blades had been transported, RAO recovered and dismantled the structure. The work was carried out under the technical supervision of Saetech B.V.
Project
An auxiliary structure was prepared for NMT in Martinique to support the delivery of wind turbine blades. Due to its weight, the structure could not be fully assembled onshore, so the installation was divided into onshore and offshore stages. RAO assembled the structure under the technical supervision of Saetech B.V.

The structure enabled the blade to be moved closer to the cliff, where it was then rigged and lifted using a Terex Demag CC 3800 crawler crane.
RAO scope of work

RAO assembled part of the structure onshore, lowered it into the sea, and completed the remaining assembly in the water. The team supported the lifting operation and coordinated activities with the other crews on site.

Execution

The work required the assembly process to be divided into onshore and offshore stages. After part of the structure was lowered into the sea, the team continued the assembly in the water. The completed structure was then used to move the wind turbine blades as part of the logistics operation.

Result
Once the blades had been transported, RAO recovered the structure from the sea and dismantled it. The team was therefore involved throughout the operation, from preparing and assembling the solution to supporting its use and completing the final on-site activities.
